“Immerse yourself in a morning of Art Deco starting with a conversation about Art Deco in its many dimensions: books, architecture, design, fashion, jewellery and film with James Findlay, Brian McKechnie and Kathy Munro.
“Johannesburg embraced the modern Art Deco style in the interwar period of the 1920s and Art Deco buildings are still to be found in Johannesburg. We shall explore the sources of inspiration.
“Kathy will share a series of 1936 post card images of Johannesburg made to market Johannesburg on the occasion of the Empire Exhibition. After the panel discussion, Brian will be showing off the Art Deco architecture visible from the front door of the Rand Club clubhouse in Loveday Street and will introduce you to Aegis House, Maritime House, the Union Castle Building and Securities House.”
